Lord Beaverbrook Senior High School (LBHS)
At Lord Beaverbrook there is a place for everyone to learn. We are located in southeast Calgary with approximately 2000 students and 150 staff members. Our extensive facilities and the size of the school provide our students with many advantages in course selection and access to innovative programs. Our staff members and students “go out of their way” to maintain a friendly, personal atmosphere with a strong focus on teaching, learning and leadership.
We have a full complement of courses in core subjects, fine arts, second languages, Career and Technology Studies (CTS) and Sport Courses. We offer an Advanced Placement (AP) program for academically talented students and an Arts-Centered Learning (ACL) program for students who thrive in an inquiry-based, arts-focused learning environment. Our National Sports Development (NSD) sport courses in hockey, soccer and sports performance engage students with a passion for sport. In partnership with the Werklund Foundation and Rapport Leadership International we provide exceptional teen leadership development. We also provide extensive supports for students with special learning needs and flexible course structures for students with diverse learning styles.
Through our five Academies (Business, Industry and Entrepreneurship; Communication Studies; Fine and Performing Arts; Science and Technology; and Human Services, Sport and Recreation), we provide opportunities for our students to explore career and life planning and to connect their course work at Lord Beaverbrook with a variety of community-based experiences related to post-secondary education and the world of work.
Lord Beaverbrook has established a tradition of excellence in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular programming. We are very proud of our school!
