Spring hockey - Program Highlights & Benefits


ON-ICE TEAM & INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS

Benefits:
All on-ice sessions will offer a balance of up-tempo over speed training drills to improve execution at high game simulated speeds, along with team and individual skill and tactical development.


OFF-ICE SKATE TREADMILL SESSIONS

Benefits:
The Skate Treadmill can help players with stride correction, stride efficiency and effectiveness, speed and power, in order to take their on-ice performance to the next level.     


HOCKEY SPECIFIC DRYLAND TRAINING

Benefits:
Dryland training programs are designed to provide each age group with a customized and comprehensive plan to enhance overall performance and to provide what they personally need to be at their best on the ice. Training will include: aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, speed, agility, quickness, multi-directional skills, reaction skills, overall strength and power, core strength, and nutritional guidance administered by professional instructors.


BOXING CONDITIONING

Benefits:
Boxing conditioning provides players with an additional training program designed to expose each age group to the development of reactive power, power endurance, muscular endurance, anaerobic endurance and aerobic endurance.


PRE & POST PROGRAM FITNESS TESTING (Novice & up)

Benefits:
Standardized tests varied by age will measure athletic improvement from start of program to end of program


INDIVIDUALIZED REPORT CARDS

Benefits:
Detailed report cards will provide feedback from NSD professional hockey staff on specific areas of game.  The feedback will highlight each player’s strengths and those areas requiring more attention and/or improvements within their level of play. Players will also be advised on how improvements can be made within their respective games.


TEAM CHALK TALK SESSIONS

Benefits:
Teams will have several team chalk talk sessions throughout the course of the season in the NSD Boardroom to discuss team tactics and systems along with other topics to help players understand what it takes to become a better hockey player at their respective level.


TOURNAMENTS & GAMES*

All AAA Elite and AAA Competitive teams may participate in tournaments and exhibition games throughout their respective spring seasons.

All Premiere Development teams are able to participate in games and tournaments, but under NSD supervision.

*Tournaments will be determined by the team manager and parent group under guidance from NSD. No practices or games will be scheduled for the two NSD sponsored tournaments.
