South - NSD Program for Excellence (PFE) - Fall/Winter 2010/11
Program for Excellence (PFE) is a school year-long personal coaching program offered in the Fall of 2010. The program is designed to compliment players’ development with their respective community/quadrant team. The PFE offers a low player to coach ratio, giving each player greater individual attention both on and off-the-ice. As a result, PFE is geared towards players that are truly committed to pursuing excellence in the sport of hockey and it has been designed as an alternative to school programs.
NSD’s professional hockey staff accompanied by guest coaches specializing in specific areas of development will work with each player on-ice and focus solely on technical skill and individual tactical development.
On-ice sessions will focus on a progressive training plan improving players’ core skills at the onset of the program. As core skills improve, progressions will take place throughout the year to improve players’ ability at thinking and executing while combining skill speeds. External specialized coaches will be incorporated into the program to run sessions that will focus on specific areas of development (i.e. Power Skating). Every practice will include time dedicated to working position specific skills.
*Please note that all ice sessions take place before school!
