Khari Jones - BA

Khari Jones was a quarterback in the Canadian Football League for nine years with the BC Lions, Winnipeg Bluebombers, Calgary Stampeders, and Hamilton Tigercats. Among his many highlights, he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player and a CFL All-Star in 2001, while helping to lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a 14-4 record and a trip to the Grey Cup. In 2002 Khari had one of the greatest seasons in CFL history, throwing 46 touchdown passes (2nd most in CFL history) and also leading the league in passing yardage (5,334), completions, and touchdown percentage. He holds 18 Winnipeg Football Club individual records and was recently voted along with Milt Stegall as the best quarterback receiver duo in the history of the CFL. In 2008 Khari will be inducted into the Winnipeg Bluebomber Hall of Fame.
Khari now fills his time with many pursuits. He is a partial owner of a Booster Juice franchise in Winnipeg, was previously an owner of a 50,000 square foot sports facility in Salem, Oregon, has appeared as an actor in numerous television and stage productions (starring in a Calgary production “Jesus Hopped the A Train” in Feb 2007), takes on a number of speaking engagements across Canada, and worked as a CFL analyst on CBC for 2 years.
Khari, a California native who now makes his home in Calgary, has been married to Justine Jones for 8 years and has 2 daughters, Jaelyn (5 1/2), and Siena (3).

Mark has been in the Strength and Conditioning field for over 9 years. Currently Mark coaches on the Defensive Staff and is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Calgary Stampeders Football Team in addition to his role as the Director of Football for NSD. He has worked with football athletes from every level and has graduated countless players on to the Provincial All-Star Teams, Junior Football, CIS, NCAA, and the CFL. Here at NSD, Mark oversees one of the country's biggest football specific strength and conditioning programs. Mark's in-depth knowledge of football specific performance and power development has made him a leader in the development of football athletes in Canada. Mark along with his elite coaching staff are proud to be the official Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Calgary Stampeders, University of Calgary Dinos, and Calgary Colts.
Mark's passion for football started when he was a player growing up in Southern Alberta. Coming out of High School, he was selected to the South All- Star team and played in the Senior Bowl in 1997, and went on to the Team Alberta All-Star team. He captained the Alberta All-Stars to a National Championship in the Canada Cup. He then went on to the University of Alberta where he played from 1997-2001. He was a team captain for the Golden Bears and was recognized for his dedication to the program. Mark graduated from the University of Alberta majoring in Sport and Performance while working at the University's Athlete Training Center.
Mark is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified Level II Olympic Lifting Coach by the NCCP. He played a central role at Cochrane High School from 2003-05 where he helped coach the Cobras to three Provincial Championships in three undefeated seasons. Mark coached the Southern Alberta All-Star team in the Provincial Senior Bowl from 2003-05 as the Linebackers Coach in 2003 and the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach in 2004 and 2005. He was recently selected as the Defensive coordinator of the Team Alberta All-star team for 2007-2009. He has been featured as a guest speaker and coach at numerous coaching clinics and symposiums as well as guest coaching at several spring camps. Mark has acted as a strength and conditioning consultant to many football coaches and programs and has worked to develop football at every level in this province. Mark has worked with LSU's much respected Strength Coach Tom Moffitt, he guest coached with the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL's 2005-06 Strength Coach of the Year Chet Fuhrman and this last past spring guest coached with the Denver Broncos of the NFL.
Mark is a positive, enthusiastic and passionate coach, who enjoys working with his athletes in a motivating and progressive way. He continues to lead the way in the development of football athletes from every level.

Joey Kwasniewski - MKin, CSCS, PFLC

After completing his undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Ottawa in Science with a focus in Human Kinetics, Joey decided to pursue a Masters degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. During his 2 years at U of C, Joey had the opportunity to work through the Canadian Sport Center where he volunteered his time testing Olympic, NHL and National level athletes. While at U of C, Joey also worked as a teaching assistant teaching fitness and physiology lab components. In his last year of his MKin degree Joey focused his attention on Football Specific training. He has had the opportunity to work with Andy Barnett, the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach of the New York Football Giants and Mark Kilam, the Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Calgary Stampeders who both helped in the completion of his Independent Study which focused on critiquing the Yearly Training Plan utilized by the NY Giants. Joey is the Co-Director of Football Strength & Conditioning here at NSD working alongside Mark Kilam. During this past football season Joey volunteered his time as the assistant linebackers coach for the University of Calgary Dinos Football Team. Furthermore, Joey continued to help coach at Bowness High School in his second season with the team. Joey's certifications include a Master's in Kinesiology, Bachelor in Science with honors in Human Kinetics, CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) and PFLC (Professional Fitness & Lifestyle Consultant).
Joey is a dedicated, positive and energetic coach who strives to bring out the best in his athletes. Together with Mark Kilam, Joey continues to develop NSD Football into the best football specific program in Canada.
