James has been involved professionally in the sport training field for over 25 years, training over 5000 athletes. From his early involvement as an athlete and trainer at the University of Saskatchewan to his professional career with the Canadian Olympic Team and the Calgary Flames Hockey Club, James has amassed a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in the fields of sport rehab and sports conditioning. Several notable athletes who have benefited from this approach are as follows: Martin Gelinas (Nashville Predators), Geoff Sanderson (Phoenix Coyotes), Brad Moran (Calgary Hitmen), Haley Wickenheiser (Canadian Women's Olympic Hockey Team), Henry Burris (Calgary Stampeders), Eddie Davis (Saskatchewan Roughriders), and Pierre Leuders (Olympic Gold Medal Champion, 2 Man Bobsleigh).

Jeff has been involved in strength and conditioning for over 10 years. His love for sports and training first began through youth hockey and later grew into his collegiate years where he was involved in both ACAC volleyball and athletic assessments through the Medicine Hat College. Jeff completed a bachelor degree in Exercise Science from the University of Lethbridge as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Chad has been involved in the sports training and sport therapy field at both the amateur ( SAIT, Calgary Hitmen, Alberta Winter Games ) and professional level ( Calgary Stampeders Football Club). Chad is current completing his Athletic Therapy and Massage certification. Chad brings a wealth of experience and energy to the NSD training staff.

Maggie has been teaching Pilates internationally for 10 years and has extensive experience in sports rehabilitation and high performance athletic training. Over the years, Maggie has worked with professional athletes and amateur athletes through to Olympic level as well as non-athletic populations with rehabilitative and general conditioning needs.



Edie Shephard

Edie Shephard is proud to have joined NSD as the new Director of Personal Training. She is also the owner and operator of “fitedie’s eats", a nutrition catering company for competitors, athletes and the general public. She has competed on both the national and international levels in both fitness modeling and figure. Edie won pro status cards with FAME for fitness model at the prairies 2005, and for figure in Winnipeg 2006. Along with her professional accolades have come appearances in fitness publications and photo shoots with the industry’s most reputable photographers. Edie remains one of FAME’s most recognized faces and will next compete in the FAME World in Toronto June, 2008. Despite Edie’s industry-wide reputation and countless distinctions, her greatest accomplishments to date remain her kids. As a mother of two, Edie has gone through two pregnancies and yet has worked to maintain her physique. Her quintessential knowledge of callisthenics and dietary perfection set her above others in the fitness community.
